San Antonio Southside was one the earliest areas to be occupied by the missionaries and by many of the local residents. The land in the Southside is flat and less forested than the Northside of Town. Back when the main mode of transportation was physically walking. It was better to live in area that was flat. In addition, the Southside Real Estate was first developed in this area because it was were people wanted to live.

San Antonio Southside economy has been thriving the last several years. Much growth and renovation has occured the Southside San Antonio. The Heart of the Southside has seen a transformation. The Southside Mall has been completely renovated and has spear headed a great deal of growth of Retail space in the area. In addition, the addition of the Toyota Manufacturing plant has brought a great deal of attention and optimism for this historic part of town.

San Antonio Southside is located near 29.4°N 98.5°W. This location is roughly 10 miles South of Downtown San Antonio
Demographics
It is unknown the exact amount of people that live in South Side in San Antonio. I would venture to say that 40 % of the San Antonio Population lives in the Southside, and since 1,144,646 people live in all of San Antonio. I would say about 400,000 people live in the Southside San Antonio.

San Antonio Southside has many Historic Missions and is very close to the jewel of San Antonio is the River Walk.
The Alamo is located nearby the Southside, and the Alamo is Texas' top tourist attraction.
